One day, Ugh was playing with two stones, banging them together, when a sharp flake split off one of the stones. "Huh?" said Ugh. Then Ugh, who was a genius among australopithecines, used the flake to scratch the ground. It made a good scratch in the ground. Next, Ugh used it to scratch a leaf. It cut the leaf right in two! This was a special stone! Ugh showed it to his mother and to his friends. They tried banging stones together like Ugh was doing (monkey see, monkey do). But only one of the stones, a flint stone, like Ugh's, flaked off. The tribe began trying Ugh's magic stones for various purposes, and found them very handy for quickly, before the hyenas came, cleaning meat from dead carcasses.
