The Case Against Litte Green Men - Space.com   Not so long ago, putative extraterrestrials were the color of moss. Generic space aliens were inevitably described as ‘Little Green Men,’ probably because an avocado complexion is dramatically unlike any human skin tint. But that idea is more than passing strange, because any glance out the window will convince you that green is one of life’s most popular colors on our planet. Chlorophyll, the foundation of the terrestrial food chain, is green.
Philips 3-D Display Uses Patented Lens Technology And New Software - SpaceDaily  Left:  A display that is so real you can almost touch the objects as they come out of the screen in 3D has been a dream for many years. but no longer claims Philips technology which is combining LCD manufacture, optical screen design and image processing software to deliver second generation 3D consumer technology.  The new 3-D display offerings combine Philips' unique patented slanted lenticular lens technology with real time 2-D to 3-D conversion software that can toggle between 2-D and 3-D on any type of flat display module (transmissive LCD, reflective LCD or emissive display).

Machines Roll In To Care For The Elderly   - SpaceDaily  "It's just a collection of bloody nuts and bolts." That was the damning reaction of a 69-year-old resident at a Scottish nursing home - let's call him William Brown - when asked if he would like a robotic pet as a companion to help relieve his boredom and loneliness. But once he realised that the robot could play games with him, he quickly changed his mind. "I would enjoy playing dominoes or chess with it, definitely," he later said. Brown's initial reaction was typical of people's responses to the raft of new technologies designed to help old and infirm people lead independent lives.
