Progress Made on Inflatable Private Space Module - Space.com  At launch, Genesis will weigh roughly 3,000 pounds (1,360 kilograms) with dimensions about 15 feet (4.6 meters) in length and 6.2 feet (1.9 meters) in diameter. The structure is to essentially double in diameter size once in orbit. Once fully-inflated this module would be roughly 45 feet (13.7 meters) long and 22 feet (6.7 meters) in diameter, offering 330 cubic meters of usable volume.
Mystery of Arizona's Meteor Crater Solved - Space.com  The space rock that carved Meteor Crater in Arizona hit the planet much more slowly than astronomers once figured, but still 10 times faster than a rifle bullet. The new analysis, announced today, explains why there's a lot less melted rock in the crater than expected. The big hole in the ground -- 570 feet deep and 4,100 feet (1.25 kilometers) across -- was blown into existence 50,000 years ago by an asteroid roughly 130 feet (40 meters) wide.

Super Telescopes in Space and on the Moon - Space.com   Already looming large in the astronomical world is the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). It is to be launched in 2011. This powerful observatory features a 20-foot (6.5-meter) mirror made up of 18 hexagonal-shaped segments. The large-sized mirror could fit seven Hubble Space Telescope mirrors within its surface area. I wouldn’t be surprised if school children of 2050 were learning the names of continents on Earth-like worlds around other stars."
