the Dow declined 67.03
points (-0.67%)
to
finish at 9,995.91,
and the S&P 500 flitted
up 8.88
points (-0.81%)
to 1,087.68.
Oil ended
up at $78.67
a barrel, while gold
rose $1
to $1,052.
The VIX fell
0.29
to
21.43.
GE reported lower-than-expected profits today.
However, about 4/5ths of the 61 companies that have reported earnings so
far have come in above expectations. Also, output registered the fastest
growth in four years.
