Daily Investment Interpretations

December 24, 2008

2008-12-24:  The stock market continues to mark time, with nothing pushing it decisively up or decisively down. Wednesday's half-day session saw a rise in the market indices of around half a percent, with the NASDAQ rising about 0.2% to close at 1,525, and the Dow and S&P 500 increasing about 0.6% to 8,468 and 868, respectively. Oil rose a little to $36 a barrel, and gold rose about $10 to $848 an ounce. The VIX fell minutely from 45 to 44.8.
This is a quiet time of year and there may not be much action before January 2nd.
