THE THIRD GIFT

I knelt before His cradle
    Long Christmases ago
And worshipped Him with tinsel
    And colored lights and snow.

In summer, when the roses
    Were pink and white and red,
I wove them into garlands
    And placed them on His head.

Tinsel for a baby,
    Flowers for a prince....
